Control of Planets

Taking Control

To establish control of a planet, a player must have either an orbiting or surface colony there; a trade station may be used to establish control, also. Upon establishing a colony, the player must declare himself the planet's ruler with a control order. Should there be an occasion when two players simultaneously send control orders for the same planet, one player is randomly selected by the computer to establish a colony and be the planet's ruler. The other player's order is aborted.

Controlled Planets

Players wishing to set up colonies on planets already controlled by another player have two options. They may attempt to bombard or capture the other player's colony. They may request permission of the other player to set up a colony there by diplomatic message. In order to be given permission, they would have to agree to whatever consideration the other player wants in return. Conditions, or considerations, might, be: A large initial fee, a percentage of any mined resources, a quarterly or annual fee payable in gold, or sole buying and selling by the new colony to be done at the ruler's trade station, if he has one.

Relinquishing Planets

A player may at any time relinquish control of a planet, (due to threats, etc.), by writing an uncontrol order.
